Since 1982 have acted as a consultant to individuals and corporations
relating to investments, taxes and risk management.
Created First Affirmative Financial Network
(FAFN), the nation’s first broker/dealer to specialize in
socially responsible investments in 1986. Acted as Chairman and
President for approximately 10 years. FAFN was purchased by a
larger organization and at that time had 60 registered representatives.
Founded and managed First American Financial
Co-op, the country’s first financial planning cooperative,
which provided investment, insurance and financial advice. Served
as Chairman and President for 3 years. Financing was provided
by membership fees from owner/members and an enterprise loan from
the National Cooperative Bank. The Co-op was registered as an
investment advisor with the S.E.C. and was licensed as a property/casualty
and life/health insurance agency. The patronage dividend rate
was 50% of revenues. This was one of the highest rates ever paid
by a cooperative.
Accounting Supervisor at major computer
manufacturer. Managed eight employees in all accounting functions
of a 2000 employee computer manufacturing plant.
Accounting/Finance Manager of property
casualty insurance company. Responsibilities included product
line profitability forecasts, corporate financial planning, and
determination of appropriate level of loss reserves. Served as
finance liaison on various business boards under matrix management
structure.
Credit Union Treasurer, responsible for
asset/liability management, as well as financials.
Accountant of airline food service subsidiary
of United Airlines. Finished a 4-year degree in 3 years while
working full-time for this company.

Miami Florida and Regis College. Accounting/Finance.
CFP; Certified Financial Planner (1983-1989).
Finished program in less than one year. Consulted for the College
for Financial Planning and wrote the questions on the “risk management”
part of the examination in late 1980’s.

Institute. This is a professional designation for corporate
employees of life insurance companies.
